Dr. Nath,
While preparing for the South African Olympic swimming trials, Eugene experienced severe pain in his right shoulder. He was soon diagnosed with winging scapula. Although he had several therapy sessions with multiple doctors, his condition did not improve.
After researching the internet and talking to Dr. Nath, it became clear that he has the most knowledge and experience of winging scapula. Dr. Nath graciously accommodated Eugene in his very busy schedule to enable Eugene to go to the South African Olympic swimming trials.
Not only did Eugene regain the full use of his right arm after the operation, he also qualified for the Olympics in Athens in the 100M Butterfly and 400 Medley Relay.
Dr. Nath we will always be grateful for what you have done for Eugene and us.
Wishing you all of the best for the future.
Kind regards,
The B Family
March 3, 2003 DR. NATH, I have been meaning to write
you for some time now, apologies in
advance for not doing so sooner. Back in April
of 2001 (almost two years
now), extremely pleased and overjoyed with the success
of the operation (and
Matt's progress to date) is a gross understatement.
His range of motion,
use, and capabilities are dramatically different
than before the surgery. I
would say to all parents that, if you could make
even a small improvement in
the quality of life for your child, to do it and
not to hesitate... I would
also say that change realized from having this
surgery was no small
improvement-it was monumental.
I can only imagine the great
weight of responsibility you must know-on a
daily basis-being a surgeon and being the individual
that parents and loved
ones place so much faith in... I have come to
appreciate a surgeon's role
much more since my son had his operation. What
you do matters so much, I
wonder if you realize just how much. I get broken
up every time I think
about this (which is often), but through it all,
there have been some really
positive aspects and experiences-the benefits
to this surgery and trusting
in you rank at the very top. I can't thank you
enough! Matt will turn 4
this April, we all look forward to seeing you
again very soon...
With much gratitude,
FG, RG AND MG
