Stand Up MRI

The system is equipped with our unique MRI-compatible motorized patient handling system that will move the patient into the magnet and place the anatomy of interest into the center of the magnet gap. It also can rotate the vertically-oriented patient into a horizontal position so the patient can be scanned lying down just like in the case of a traditional MRI.

The Stand-Up™ is the only MRI in the industry that performs positional imaging. Patients can be scanned standing, sitting, and in recumbent positions. An unprecedented degree of patient comfort due to the unobstructed view of the scanner room from inside the magnet. There is nothing directly in front of the patients' faces or over their heads.

Houston Stand Up MRI FAQ's

1) What type of images are generated by the Stand Up MRI?

Click here to view images generated from a Fonar Stand Up MRI machine.

2) Is a Fonar Stand Up MRI as accurate as a "traditional" MRI?

Yes. In fact, a stand up MRI uses the same magnet as a "traditional" MRI. Typically a Doctor will find images generated from a standing MRI to be better than a traditional MRI because it allows a relaxed patient to recreate the exact position that is causing the pain. Athletes in particular like the flexibility of the Stand Up MRI.

3) Is it only for "Athletes" and people who don't like confined spaces?

Anyone can benefit form the accuracy of a Stand Up MRI. In fact we all benefit by not having to sedate patients who can not use a traditional MRI. Plus, who wouldn't rather watch the game while getting an MRI instead of staring at the top of a silo?
